In November 2025, Willy retired from Metronet as EVP of Sales and Marketing. Metronet was, at the time, the largest private fiber-to-the-home company in the U.S., and they had just been purchased by T-Mobile for $10B.
Willy left Shenandoah Telecommunications Company (Shentel) in December 2021 after a 30-year career. Willy served in a variety of senior management positions in his time including SVP of Wireless, and SVP of Sales and Marketing. Willy was instrumental in starting, growing, running, and ultimately selling Shentel’s wireless business to TMobile for $1.95B. While at Shentel Willy served on the board of directors of the Wireless Industry Association, the CCA, and served as its chairman for three years. Prior to joining Shentel Willy worked for IBM in a variety of technical sales roles before being offered his position at Shentel while playing golf at Birdwood. Willy is a graduate of the University of Virginia and Stonewall Jackson High School. Willy and his wife Patty have three boys, all who attended Stonewall. Willy has been on the Board of the Shenvalee for 14 years, and Chairman now for eight years.
A family golf weekend at The Shenvalee in 1977 and subsequent purchase of Midway Market prompted Tom Linski, Jr.’s parents to move their family to New Market. After graduating from Stonewall Jackson High School, Tom joined the family grocery business and later owned and operated two local IGA stores with his brothers. In 1997 Tom switched careers to become a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones where he helps individual investors and small business owners. Mr. Linski has been active in the community as a former member of New Market Rotary, serving as president twice, and as scout master of Boy Scout Troop 50. Tom has served on the Shenandoah County School Board, Shenandoah Memorial Hospital Board, Shenandoah County Library Foundation Board, and the New Market Library Board. Tom currently serves on the Valley Health Investment Committee, the Moore Educational Trust Board, and the New Market Planning Commission.
For the past 33 years, Tom and his wife have lived “three doors down from The Shenvalee”. Their three children grew up swimming in Shenvalee’s pool and learning their family’s game out their back door. All three of Tom’s children played high school golf, and he expects that his grandchildren may do the same. Tom believes that “just as we strive to keep our home looking good and running efficiently, I have the same interest in maintaining and upgrading The Shenvalee. It is an honor to serve on the board of The Shenvalee… The Shenvalee is home”.
John Rosenberger was raised in the New Market area. As a teenager, he was an avid golfer at Shenvalee and played on the Stonewall Jackson High School golf team.
John holds both a Bachelor and Master of Business Administration from James Madison University, with concentrations in accounting and data processing.
John has been a financial executive with over four decades of experience in corporate finance, operational analysis, and strategic leadership across the agricultural, food production, and retail sectors. He worked with companies such as Rocco, WLR Foods, Pilgrim’s Pride, RMC, Inc., Coleman Natural Foods, and Rockingham Cooperative. His career highlights include leadership roles such as President/CEO of RMC, Inc.
John has held roles with various non-profit and civic organizations, and he is currently treasurer of the Harrisonburg Rotary Club.
A Rockingham County native, Dick Barkley graduated from Broadway High School in 1966 and joined the U.S. Navy shortly thereafter, where he served as Second Class Petty Officer for two tours in Viet Nam. After five years in the service, Mr. Barkley began working for Dunham-Bush Commercial Heating and Air, where he was employed for 30 years. During his time at Dunham-Bush, Mr. Barkley worked as a manufacturing manager and was the company committee representative for negotiating the union contract every three years.
Dick Barkley came to work at the Shenvalee golf shop in 2002 and has continued to work here in some capacity ever since. Mr. Barkley was the general manager from 2008 until 2013 when he retired. In 2014 he was asked to resume his role as General Manager until his second retirement in 2017. Dick Barkley continues to serve on the Shenvalee Board of Directors and assists with the day-to-day operations.
While a student at Broadway High School, Tim Proctor began his first “official” employment with Shenvalee when he was 15 years old; his first duty was pulling weeds out of sand traps. Tim worked his way up to mowing greens and fairways, changing cups, spraying, watering, and more on the golf course; he also worked in the motel and restaurant in the evenings and off seasons. In 1977, at the age of 20 and a sophomore at James Madison University, Tim was appointed General Manager of Shenvalee, a position he held for over 10 years. During that time, Tim graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, and in 1987 Tim accepted a position with Bowman Apple Products, Co. Inc. in Mt. Jackson, Virginia, eventually becoming President and CEO of the corporation.
For the last 10 years of his career, Tim was Chief Operating Officer of White House Foods until his retirement in 2019. Tim was asked to stay on the Board of Directors of White House Foods, a position he still holds. Tim has also held a seat on the Board of Directors at Shenvalee for the past 36 years. Tim served four terms as Mayor of Broadway, VA after having served as councilman for 20 years.
Mr. Proctor has held Presidency/Chairmanship positions with The New Market Chamber of Commerce, The Broadway/Timberville Chamber of Commerce, The Shenandoah Valley Travel Association, Apple Processors of America Association, the Broadway/Timberville Ruritan Club and his Church Council.
The Shenvalee was a second home for Director Donna Martz Abernathy. From playing golf since the age of seven, working various jobs around the resort for 14 years beginning at that age, and having a long family history association, Ms. Abernathy possesses a deep affection for Shenvalee. She played competitive golf as a junior growing up in the Valley, at James Madison University from 1986-1990, and turned professional upon graduating from college. Playing on various mini-tours, Ms. Abernathy qualified and played in the 1997 Women’s US Open at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Course in Portland, Oregon.
Following her golf career, Ms. Abernathy began teaching and coaching at the high school level. Over the last 24 years, she has held various high school-level administrative positions such as athletic director, assistant principal, and principal. Ms. Abernathy has also been involved with her church, serving on various committees and teaching Sunday School and Bible School.
Ms. Abernathy holds the women’s course record at Shenvalee with a score of 67.
Mike Stewart has had a career in the service industry for 30 years. His experience ranges from working in rehabilitation and care facilities to management and sales in outdoor recreation. Mike currently serves as the general manager at Endless Caverns RV Resort and Caverns Tours and has been there for 14 years. Community involvement is important to Mike, and when he came to New Market, VA from Pittsburgh, PA, Mike became involved with the New Market Chamber of Commerce and the New Market Library.
Mike has been passionate about playing golf since he worked as a caddy in high school. During the 1990s, Mike created and managed a golf publication called Keystone Golfer, which he later turned into a television program broadcast on a sports station in Pittsburgh. Mike has been a member of Shenvalee since moving to New Market, and even purchased a home next door.
A Mount Jackson native, Ricky Click’s love for golf began in early elementary school when he would accompany his father to play at The Shenvalee. Ricky spent much time at Shenvalee while growing up, and had his first high school job mowing fairways and roughs during the summer. He continued working there after school in the spring and fall. A 1975 graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School, Ricky was a member of the golf team, which won three State Championships.
After graduating from Marywood University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, Ricky became controller at Appalachian Freight Carriers, Inc., a position he has held for 38 years. Ricky and his wife, Karen, have lived adjacent to the ninth hole of the Miller Course since 1993. They both love being on the golf course and enjoy the various amenities of Shenvalee. Ricky is a member of Shenvalee’s golf club and plays in the senior league, and he is proud of all that Shenvalee has to offer.
Brad Moyers is a member of the law firm of Clark & Bradshaw, P.C. He grew up in Woodstock and has been playing golf at Shenvalee since childhood. Brad graduated from Central High School and Bridgewater College, playing on the golf teams at both schools. He graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1998.
After law school, Brad served as an Assistant Commonwealth Attorney in Buchanan County, then in Rockingham County. He joined Clark & Bradshaw in 2002 and was elevated to partner in 2008. In his civil litigation practice, Brad handles disputes involving contracts, real estate, insurance, fiduciary obligations, and various other matters.
Brad and his wife Amy live in Bridgewater and have two children. Brad has served on the boards of various local nonprofit, school, and church organizations.
Frank is a Broadway native who grew up playing golf and working at Shenvalee. He played his first nine holes of golf at the age of five on the Olde course with his father Everette. Frank worked in the pro shop as a teenager, and was the golf shop manager from 1977-1979 while taking night classes at James Madison University to earn his Masters of Business Administration degree. Frank earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Virginia Tech.
Frank’s work experience includes almost 10 years as Production and Material Control Manager at Dunham Bush, Inc. in Harrisonburg, Virginia (1980-1989). In 2023, he retired from Ameriprise Financial, Inc. as a Certified Financial Planner after 33 years.
Frank has been married to his wife, Carol, for 48 years. They have two children, Tiffany and Brandon, and five grandchildren. He has been a shareholder for 48 years and has logged many rounds of golf at Shenvalee with the numerous friends he has made there.
Scott French, a Broadway High School alumni, played his first ever round of golf at Shenvalee, and he credits his father, Herb French, and high school coach, Joe Jones, with driving his interest in the game. During high school, Scott worked with his father at French’s Frame and Alignment (later known as French’s Auto Parts) where he learned all facets of the automotive trade. Scott received an associates degree in management and accounting from Roanoke Business College. Afterward, Scott returned to his family’s business where he continued to work until 1978 when he had the opportunity to start a business in Harrisonburg, VA. One year later, Scott became the sole owner of the company, called F&K Auto Parts, which he ran until 2008 when he sold the company. Scott has also been a member of his local chamber of commerce, as well as the state and national auto recycling trade group, where he was elected to the state board and served as president.
After selling his company, Scott invested in a start-up solar company, called SunRnr, which sold more than 500 units of an inclusive, house-assembled portable power system until the company was sold in 2019. Scott is also a pilot and former skydiver; he now owns Shenandoah Skies, LLC, offering exhibition skydiving airpower. Additionally, Scott owns Shen Valley Recycling, LLC, as well as commercial and residential rental properties.
